Ester Skála will represent the Faroe Islands in Nuuk

On October 12, the Arctic music competition PanArctic Vision will be held in Nuuk. Now it has been decided who the Faroe Islands will send to the competition. The choice has fallen on Ester Skála from Argir.

10 artists from 10 different places in the Arctic compete with 10 songs when the PanArctic Vision is on. This year, the event takes place in the cultural center Katuaq in Nuuk, and just like last year, the event will be live streamed so that the whole of the Arctic can follow along.

This time it will be Ester Skála who will represent the Faroe Islands at the competition. She is described as a pink pop princess and an incredibly exciting artist. Throughout her musical career, she has created a universe full of colors, catchy songs and magical expressions within electronic pop.

Ester's often simple but poetic music and expressionistic, love-based lyrics have been in English until now, but for the PanArcticVision 2024 Ester will be singing in Faroese.

PanArcticVision
PanArcticVision is a new, international music competition inspired by Eurovision. But for Faroese artists there is a special difference. At Eurovision, they cannot compete under the Faroese flag. They can do this for PanArcticVision.

The competition was founded to focus on the musical culture around the Arctic, on the local languages, the local expressions and the local cultures. The first PanArcticVision was held in Vadsø in northern Norway in 2023. Guðrið Hansdóttir represented the Faroe Islands here.

The competition is produced by the artist group NORDTING / The Northern Assembly in collaboration with Arctic actors, e.g. Nordens Hus on the Faroe Islands.
